This is only the best infographic of all time, and it was made by a man named Charles Joseph Minard. To quote from Tufte:
Probably the best statistical graphic ever drawn, this map by Charles Joseph Minard portrays the losses suffered by Napoleon’s army in the Russian campaign of 1812. Beginning at the Polish-Russian border, the thick band shows the size of the army at each position. The path of Napoleon’s retreat from Moscow in the bitterly cold winter is depicted by the dark lower band, which is tied to temperature and time scales.
My co-worker just gave me this poster, free of charge. It is now displaying in my cubicle, directly to my right.
I am very happy.
Guys, there’s so much good work on Tang Yau Hoong‘s site that if I tried to put up everything I liked … well … it would pretty much just be his site. Please take the time to check him out, it’s well worth it.
Thoughtful, delicate, stylized faces by Stephane Tartelin. I don’t love or endorse all his work, but this set in particular is really beautiful.
Check out the beautiful/cool/spiffy/rocking illustrations of Nick Iluzada.
Total win by Rachael Shankman. Available as a poster at society6 … which I am officially adding to my list of Dangerous Websites For Me To Visit.
Vin Ganapathy can draw him some humans. I may have to spring for this print at some point.
Guess what just went on my post-Christmas list? If you said posters of these three prints by Mathiole, you’d be dead right. This guy is pretty amazing.
I love me some Dan McCarthy. Check out this goodness by him.
Really beautiful work by Tran Nguyen … and more on her personal site.
