I’m trying to train myself not to use the following words:
- Just (as in “only,” not “fair”)
- So (as in “so much,” not, “so I said…”)
- Very
- Awesome
My technique is simple. Pretend that they’re foul swear words that will get me slapped across the face by shocked and horrified pedestrians. Mothers will warn their children about me. Grandmothers will cry if I use them.
We’ll see how this goes. Hopefully, my writing and speaking will just become so much more very awesome.
