How do you find what you love, and find time to do it?

The title of this post may have set you up for one of those handy, “Here are ten ways to make it happen!” posts, but actually the question was sincere. How do you find what you love? And how on earth do you find time to do it?

There are a lot of things I like. I like graphic design. I like branding a lot. I like talking about story, and writing it from time to time. I like drawing simple sketches of original characters.

How did you discover what do you love to do, and when do you work on it? I’d love your help to think through this, so please share in the comments!

I can’t say, however, that I love any of these. (Except maybe talking about story, but even that is iffy.) So I’m really curious — what are you passionate about? Have you always been that way, or did you discover your passion? And if so, how?

Secondarily, when do you work on what you love? This is assuming your 9-5 doesn’t encompass all your hopes and dreams. Do you get up early? Stay up late? Give it the weekends? And if you do that, how do you balance out the rest of life? Do you have success criteria for doing what you love, or is the very act of doing whatever it is enough for you?

I’d really love any answers to any of these. I want to start using this blog to record my creative development a little bit more, and where I’m at now is developing into someone with a lot of questions about pursuing your passion. Hopefully, you’re someone with a couple of answers (at least as far as your own story goes).
